yè gōng zi míng jiào gāo, shí fēn xǐ ài lóng, yī dài gōu shàng diāo zhe lóng, jiǔ qì shàng kè zhe lóng, jū shì nèi de huā wén tú àn yě quán dōu huà zhe lóng。 tiān shàng de zhēn lóng tīng shuō zhè jiàn shì, biàn jiàng lín dào rén jiān, tóu tàn jìn chuāng hù lǐ, wěi ba tuō zài tīng táng zhōng。 yè gōng kàn jiàn zhēn lóng, zhuǎn shēn jīng huāng táo kāi, xià dé hún fēi pò sàn, liǎn sè dà biàn。 yóu cǐ kě jiàn, yè gōng bìng bú shì zhēn de xǐ ài lóng, tā xǐ ài de zhǐ shì nà xiē xiàng lóng què bìng fēi zhēn lóng de dōng xī。

Lord Ye, whose given name was Gao, was extremely fond of dragons. Dragons were carved on his belt hooks and wine vessels, and all the patterns in his dwelling were painted with dragons. When the real dragon in heaven heard of this, it descended to the mortal world. It poked its head through the window and trailed its tail across the hall. At the sight of the creature, Lord Ye spun around and fled in terror. He was utterly panic-stricken and turned pale with fright. This shows that Lord Ye did not truly love dragons. What he adored was merely things that looked like dragons, not real ones.
